Building R7 Kings Cross – London

Designed by Duggan Morris Architects, the Building R7 Kings Cross Central is a new 11 storey highly flexible commercial mixed-use building, integrating shared spaces to encourage collaboration and community, perfectly positioned at London’s main transport hub.

With Kier construction as the principal contractor, RF Fixing was commissioned by Lindner Facades to install all the curtain wall element work including the following:

  • Unitised curtain walling.
  • Stick curtain walling.
  • Opening vents.
  • GRC soffit cladding.
  • Aluminum soffit cladding.
  • Aluminum spandrel panels.
  • Fixed double glazing with surface treatments (high performance).
  • Fixed double glazing with ceramic frit.
  • Aluminium vertical and horizontal shading fins.
  • Aluminum/steel balcony balustrades including infill rails.
  • Glazed sliding doors.
  • Smoke and fire stopping.
  • Louvres
  • Ventilation plenums.
  • Copings and flashings

With Lindner Facades supplying the material and drawings, RF Fixing supplied the plant equipment, lift plans for cranage work, method statements, risk assessments and safe systems of work.  The highly skilled team of 40+ lead by the RF project manager and supervisor successfully completed the project on time and within budget.  Challenges that were successfully faced along the way included the concrete GRC soffit to the walkway and the intricacies of the two-tone colour variation of the building.

The result is an eye-catching building, stylishly clad in a mix of rose pink and copper, giving a two-toned finish, complimenting the Victorian industrial design of the area whilst also reflecting the evolving modern, creative district.
