In 2016, the Riverbank Park Plaza hotel underwent an ambitious 12 storey extension. Working with Grupo Folcra, RF Fixing were commissioned to install the following elements:
- Aluproof system curtain wall
- Glass balconies to all floors
- Replacement of the complete existing façade and new storeys with terracotta tiles.
The ‘live building’ element of the project meant that particular consideration and allowances had to be made to ensure that the building works did not interfere too much with the day to day running of the hotel and their customers experience.
Prior to installation works commencing, all glass and balcony walkways on the existing outside building including the terracotta tiles had to be removed. Working with the hotel to minimize sound and vibration, RF Fixings project manager and assistant manager led a team of 40+, working from fixed scaffolding, cradles and leading-edge work.
The resulting building with complete new curtain wall, glass balconies and intricate terracotta design - implemented to match the shades of the Thames - takes the hotel to an entirely new level on the Embankment, offering visitors unrivalled views and luxury accommodation.
