Castlewood House, New Oxford Street – London

Castlewood House was a new 11-storey mixed-use development on New Oxford Street, London. RF Fixing Ltd had been commissioned by UPB to work on the building’s unitised façade, which comprised various materials and textures such as stone, glass, and metalwork, resulting in a visually striking yet functional design.

The completed building embodied London’s unique blend of traditional and modern architectural design, achieved through the use of unitised façade panels, add-on GRC elements, structural pre-cast GRC, and brickwork walls.

RF Fixing Ltd successfully executed various tasks on the project, including the installation of GRC panels, unitised curtain walling, pre-cast walls and columns, stick façade, and rainscreens, copings, and decorative soffits. The dedicated team from RF Fixing Ltd, consisting of an experienced project manager, site managers, supervisors, slingers, banksmen, and fixers, demonstrated high skill levels and proficiency in crane operations, holding certifications such as CPCS blue card status, IPAF standard, and leading Edge.

Overcoming challenging access areas, the team utilised specialist plant equipment, including spider boom lifts, abseilers, and man-riding cages on the tower crane. These access strategies, combined with the use of spider cranes, facilitated the successful installation of façade components.

With the completion of all high-level façade work, the project entered its final stages including the installation of all pre-cast GRC panels and unitised facades. The following focus moved to completing the internal finishing works, and coping and rainscreen systems, as well as the installation of decorative soffits comprising zigzag aluminum panels and GRC soffits.

The project stands as a testament to the team's expertise and commitment to successful project delivery.
