Unity Place is Santander’s new flagship building on Milton Keynes Station Square. The innovative design, a collaboration between LOM, Santander UK and global developer Osborne+Co, will provide a unique enhanced working environment for Santander employees, with employee health and wellbeing and minimal environmental impact at the forefront of the design.
We are excited to be engaging for the first time with FKN facades on this landmark new eight-storey building façade by main principle contractor Sisk. Lead by our experienced RF Fixing project manager, works for this project will consist of several different unitised façade wall types. Comprising of preparation works with A-frame gantry and bespoke design lifting beam, using spider crane installation and tower crane installation, elements will be launched from both launching tables over the edge protection, and from skates working from leading edge pending the area of the building. Works will be carried out from both floors slab access, scissor lifts/cherry picker MEWP’s and also access cradles for the large atrium area. In addition, add on walkways will be installed to the elements in the preparation stage prior to launching.
A second phase installation of add-on decorative louvre frames to the front of the walkways, involves the development of a suitable access method to eliminate the need for external access where possible.
These additional works include:
- Unitized facades
- Stick Façades to GF, winter gardens and roof screens
- Insulated roofing cladding
- Panoramic roof lights
- Balustrading
- Parapets and copings.
In addition to the project manager the RF team includes a dedicated site manager, health and safety manager, QA manager, slingers, banksmen and fixers. All our operatives are highly skilled and proficient in the use of cranes, trained to CPCS blue card status; IPAF standard and leading edge and will be using a combination of skills and equipment to complete the project.
Once completed, Unity Place will provide a local hub for Santander’s UK business and the community with co-working spaces, an urban market, retail outlets, health facilities, community/event space, a café/restaurant area and even a rooftop running track!
